One Gift = Two Ministries

Yes, your one gift can help with two ministries!

Our Upstate NY Women of the ELCA Ingathering at our September Convention in Utica, NY will be helping the women incarcerated in the Albion Women’s Correctional Facility in Albion, NY who have been knitting hats for the Seafarers!

Seafarers is an ecumenical mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Seafarers International House is a multi-faith, multi-national harbor of hospitality seeking to nurture the human spirit and foster human dignity by providing pastoral care, social assistance, advocacy and prayer.

The “knit hats” made by the inmates at the Albion Correctional Facility are given to shipworkers at Christmastime along with other items in a bag by the port Chaplains.  One hat = 200 yards of Worsted weight wool. Most shipworkers are male.

Thank you for bringing any amount of worsted weight wool yarn for our Upstate NY WELCA Convention ingathering – September 22-24, Utica, NY!

Karen Douglass, Judy Holmes, Missy Wilber and Pr. Marie are among those going to the gathering in the fall.
